Roxanne Hanson was born in Eau Claire, Wisconsin but spent parts of her childhood in California and Minnesota. She currently lives in Rice Lake with her husband Bruce, her foster son/caregiver Alden, and three dogs: Elvis, Jackson and Shylo.
After a recent fall resulting in several broken bones in her right knee, left ankle and one finger, Roxanne needed repair, rest and recovery. We were happy to accept her as a short-term rehab resident at Maple Ridge Care Center in Spooner. Due to limits on weight-bearing activities and the need for further healing, her stay with us was extended beyond original expectations.
Roxanne has made the best of her time at Maple Ridge and has worked hard to become more independent each day. Roxanne said she would recommend Maple Ridge Care Center to others. When asked how she felt our rehab department has helped her, she stated, “Dave and Amy were amazing. If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be going home. The staff are amazing, very sweet and nice. And the food is very good.” If someone were in a similar situation as Roxanne was, she would tell them to “follow staff directions and keep pushing on.”
Hard work does pay off, and Roxanne proved that. To go along with that, we have a sign in our rehab department: “I’m not telling you it’s going to be EASY; I’m telling you it’s going to be WORTH IT.”
Roxanne is most looking forward to returning home to cook and spend time with her family and her fur babies. Good luck at home, Roxanne. It’s been great getting to know you!
